"As I dropped off Foster and Reese this morning, I had an overwhelming flood of emotions watching them walk through the front doors. It brought me back to wonderful memories I had as a student at the South School during the early 1970's and the emotions I had on my last day there. I thought to myself "here ends another generation of the McLeods at the South School" and as I drove away, I stopped looked at the school and said "Thank you."
I wanted to take an opportunity to thank everyone who's been involved in the education of my three children and for the wonderful experience they've been fortunate enough to have. I know that everything they've learned during their time there will absolutely prepare them not only in the realm of education but for the rest of their lives. Thank you ALL for your dedication."
Daniel McLeod (Class of 1978)
One father of two fifth graders wrote this letter to the South School staff. He has given me permission to share his words that mean so much to us as educators who devote our lives to students. Thank you! Letters and notes are so appreciated. Have a safe summer and see you on September 4, 2013!

Our final school day on June 27th, 2013 was a joyous occasion!
44 fifth graders were recognized in a " Moving On Ceremony". Special honors were bestowed on Jasmine Ly and Michael Winskowicz (Leadership), Emma McSweeney and Dashawn Harris (Sportsmanship) and Abigail Kashian and Cameron Smith (Citizenship). They all sang appropriately enough "The Future Begins with Us" and "Onward!" The hit of the ceremony was the viewing of the slide show of students' photos from birth to present created by Mrs. Suzanne Jolley. Each student a copy of the CD to maintain their memories of the South Elementary School experience. Photo below shows Emma McSweeney being congratulated on her accomplishment. We had 44 stars! |
