Kindergartners and first graders took a Story Walk on Friday, October 26th. They followed a path of story book pages from the books Grace for President and There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat. Groups of students were lead around the ballfield to read and discuss the events in each childen's book. Thanks to Mrs. Standring, reading specialist, and Mrs. Kaplan, nurse, for coordinating an innovative project that promotes exercise and reading!
Teachers from the Buzzard's Bay Writing Initiative worked with teachers and students to help improve writing. Kindergartners used ideas from the book called The Squiggle and wrote stories to match the "squiggle" they created. First graders identified, drew and wrote beginning, middle and end portions from the story Big Pumpkin. All grades will receive further help in learning to use the 6 Traits in Writing.
Mrs. Mulvey will keep the community connected to various news and events through blog postings.
